Here Are 4 Tips That Will Keep You And Your Business Sharp

October 13, 2015

If there is one thing that I have learned in my long time in the industry, it is that you always need to stay sharp.
I love my job and what I do – the digital industry is a magical place with endless opportunities. Still, that doesn’t mean I don’t get bored from time to time live everyone else with a job. There are just as many digital peaks and troughs as there are conventional ones! Sometimes, I have to work hard just to keep myself and my company going.
Nowadays, I don’t do it as often as in the past because I understand how to stay sharp. I know what I need to do to keep my mind busy and keep the creative juices flowing, and I think you should too.
Learn Something New And Try And Apply It To Your Life
As the adage goes, the best ideas are usually the simplest ones. However, I find that they don’t always relate to the industry. For example, they might be simple, but they might not jump out at you as being relatable. As a result, you should try and find unrelated ideas and put them together. Often, the result is unique. When you have something unique, you can then exploit the market. Now that is simple, isn’t it?
Read One Article Every Day
How do you learn something new? You learn by reading. Regardless of your age and experience, you are never too old to read. What is so great about books is that anyone can put their ideas out into the read, which is why the Internet is so popular to the mainstream today. You might think ‘yeah, anyone can out their opinion out into the public,’ and you would be right. There are some silly ideas in general circulation. But, even the silliest and most stupid ideas have brought out the best in entrepreneurs. You never know what is going to spark your brain into action.
Read An Opposing Article Every Day
The brain works best when someone challenges it. For the most part, it can be hard to find stimulating conversation at the first thing in the morning. Our brains and bodies don’t always react well in the morning! One way to get the blood flowing is to read an article by someone whose opinion you don’t like. You are bound to disagree, and that will stimulate your mind into thinking of a repost. It doesn’t have to be the first thing in the morning either because there is never a bad time to kick start the brain.
Keep Your Finger On The Pulse
People who are not up to date with the industry are the ones that fall behind. Modern day business can change at the drop of a hat, and you have to adapt and change too. As we have already worked out, reading is one way of keeping your finger on the pulse. However, there are alternatives. Conventions are a fantastic method because they bring experts from around the world to one place for an amalgamation of ideas. For example, if you work in the medical industry, a medical speaker could give you a completely different perspective. Their background and approach may differ to yours, so they think and do things that you would never dream.
There is no better way of dispersing information that peers getting together to discuss and debate the hot topics.
