What Tasks Should You Outsource In Your Business

November 20, 2018

When you start and online business, it's pretty normal that you're going to be responsible for doing everything by yourself in the beginning, and although it can be frustrating and time consuming, it's not really a bad thing because you'll learn a lot of skills that you can use later if you ever need to step in and take over something.
However, if you want to grow and scale your business, then you'll need to be able to delegate some tasks that someone else can do more efficiently than you can so you can focus on the tasks that are within your zone of genius and that will actually help you bring in money.
Many business owners really struggle with delegating because, not only do they find it difficult to let go any part of their business because their business means so much to them, but it's also something that many find extremely overwhelming when knowing where to start with outsourcing.
In this post, we want to give you a few useful tips for the tasks that you can outsource to help your business grow and scale without needing you involved in every step.
Admin:
Admin is something that every business owner needs to be doing, though it's definitely not the most enjoyable task, and is certainly not what you'd consider to be a category of money making activities. Admin tasks can include things like having a filing system, setting up appointments, creating to-do lists, and even creating systems and processes that you and your team might use. The best person to outsource your admin to is a virtual assistant (VA), because this is typically what they specialize in, and they'll often only be needed for a few hours per week, so this is not something that will cost you a lot, and you can always add on more hours as your demand for the services grow.
Communication:
Things like replying to emails, answering customer queries, and even replying to comments on social media are all forms of communication that your business will be engaging in, and although they're necessary for maintaining good relationships with your customers, suppliers and team members, they're really not direct money makers for you, so you should try to outsource these as soon as you're starting to make a profit in your business. A VA is also a good option for outsourcing your communication, but a social media manager or hiring a company who provide a virtual answering service are equally great options.
Bookkeeping and Accounting:
Making sure you stay on the right track with your business finances is a really crucial aspect of building a successful business, but the unfortunate thing is that most business owners are generally not good at this particular area of business, and they certainly don't enjoy it, so hiring someone who focuses on this can, not only save you a lot of time and energy in your business, but also can save you a lot of money because it may take you 4 hours to file your own taxes, but an accountant could have it done in a fraction of that time, and will charge you less than what you'll be making with your time.
Tech:
Not everyone is good at the tech side of business, and a lot of business owners really don't enjoy it, but the good news is, if you're someone who struggles with technology, then it really doesn't have to impact your business in a negative way. You can easily outsource this to someone who loves and is good at all things tech. You can either hire them for odd tasks as and when you need them done, or you can have someone on retainer, whichever works best for you.
Graphics and Editing:
Much like tech, creating the visual side of the marketing for your business isn’t always something that will come naturally to you, but there are people who will, not only be happy to do this, but will do it quickly and will generally do a great job of creating things like graphics for your website, marketing materials like brochures, images for your social media and blogs, as well as making things look very professional through high quality editing.
We hope this post has helped you see that outsourcing really doesn't have to be as scary as you think and it's going to save you so much more time, energy, stress and money that you'd waste because of the hours spent on trying to do things by yourself all the time.
