Are You Keeping Your Workplace Safe?

March 8, 2021

As a business owner, there’s no doubt that you have a lot of pressure and responsibilities on your shoulder. This is something that’s always been true but there’s no doubt that it’s something that’s become even more significant over the last few years. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a huge number of challenges for practically every business. One of the most significant things that you need to be able to do as a business owner is keep your workplace safe for everyone in it. This isn’t always easy but there are some things that you can do to make sure that everyone in your workplace is safe and protected.

Testing

The most important thing that you can do if you want to keep your workplace safe during the pandemic is to make sure that the chances of anyone spreading COVID are as low as possible and the only way that you can be sure of this is through thorough testing. A lot of evidence shows that workplaces should use lateral flow COVID-19 tests. These tests offer a quick turnaround time and are incredibly easy to administer. That way you can be sure that your workers are clear of the virus and are safe to be at work and those who are not are able to self-isolate.

Using space

Even if your employees are shown to be clear of the virus, it’s still a good idea to make sure that you’re considering the importance of things like social distancing. This can obviously be something of a challenge in an enclosed space like an office but there are plenty of things that you can do to maximise the distance between employees. It’s just a matter of being able to use the space in your workplace as effectively as possible to maximise safety.

Training

You can have all of the procedures and rules in place that you want but the truth is that a lot of the time it’s not going to do all that much good if you’re not providing your employees with the information and training that they need to enact those policies effectively. By providing your employees with the right level of training, you’re going to be able to put them in a position where they’re able to keep themselves and others safe at all times. Not only that but you should make sure that this training applies to everyone at every level of your business, yourself included.

It’s also important to remember that it’s a good idea to consider how you can use remote working options. A lot of business owners assume that remote working is something that may not be viable for their business but the reality is that in the modern era there are very few jobs, especially those in office spaces, that can’t be done remotely. Sure, there are always going to be exceptions to this rule but being able to provide remote working conditions for as many employees as possible can often make a huge difference.
