Signs that your Business Team are Not Communicating Well

March 22, 2021

Your team is the backbone of your company. They are the driving force behind everything you do, so you really need to make sure that you are giving them the support they need to work well with one another and ultimately achieve their true potential. If you don’t, then you may find that they end up struggling.

The End Result is Never as Expected

If you feel as though the end result is never what you expected, then this can indicate that you have an issue with communication. If people do not have a clear understanding of what is required of them, then they probably won’t end up being able to do a good job. You need to try and find ways to communicate well, and you also need to make sure that the outcome is always what you wanted in the first place. It’s helpful for you to find various ways to communicate your overall aims so that you can come out on top.

Your Teams Don’t Trust One Another

Teams that do not trust one another may quickly start to blame or even avoid each other. They may end up assuming the worst, and they may believe that the other members are unreliable or difficult to work with. As a leader, it’s your job to make sure that you spend time with people outside of your team and that you also foster good communication. You need to make sure that there is a lot of cross-team communication as well. If your team don’t have any communication like this, then you may find that your team cannot learn about each other and this is the last thing that you need. If you want to ensure that your team get the best result out of their communication efforts, then it is wise for you to invest in a good system. Employees are Tattling

Tattling, or telling when a member has done something wrong, is one of the major signs that your team are dysfunctional. It may be that they do not get on with one another or that there is a lot of blaming when poor results are achieved. If you do not deal with this, then you may find that cliques are formed and this can worsen and ultimately diminish your company culture. If you want to work around this, then you need to recognise when your team members tell on others. You need to try and address anything that might indicate a lack of trust or even safety too. If you can do this, then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to deal with the issue.

Work is being Copied

When you have a compromised level of communication, you may find that your team become unsure as to what team are responsible for what. This often means that work is copied and duplicated, which results in a very inefficient use of valuable time.
