Why Optimising Your Energy Levels Might Be One of the Best Things You Can Do for Your Business

May 6, 2021

For anyone trying to run a successful business, or to turn a passion project into a successful business, there’s more to think about and consider than anyone could easily sum up.

At the same time, there are also a huge number of potentially great things you could do for your business, ranging from contacting a WordPress web design company to create a dazzling website with inbuilt e-commerce features for you, to trying out a daring new viral marketing campaign.

Ultimately, however, it may just be the case that the most important thing to do your business is to work on optimising your own personal energy levels – and to seriously explore avenues for doing this such as taking up breathing practices, correcting your circadian rhythm, and so on.

Here are a few reasons why.

Because time is a finite resource, but your own energy isn’t

When people want to get serious about optimising their professional productivity, one of the things they often do is to carefully schedule and “time block” their days in detail.

While this can certainly be a beneficial practice – and while it’s one that many influential entrepreneurial figures attest to – it risks missing a pretty simple point.

Ultimately, it’s one thing to set aside a certain amount of time to tackle a particular task, but if you are exhausted and distracted during that time period, you will likely not be very productive, to say the least.

Ultimately, time is a resource with a clearly set limit. But your own energy isn’t.

The more you can enhance and optimise your energy levels, the more meaningfully your time can be spent.

Because you will always be able to achieve more, with less, and better, if your energy levels are high

Following on from the previous point; you will always be able to achieve more, with less, and to a better standard, if your energy levels were higher than you would if they were low.

Among other things, having high energy levels means you will be less likely to procrastinate, will be better able to keep up a good pace of work, will be sharper and more perceptive, and will likely be more creative as well.

You will, in other words, be better able to achieve your potential and perform at a high level.

Because optimising your energy levels will help to protect you against burnout, while simultaneously boosting your quality of life across the board

One of the most unpleasant things that can happen to anyone in their professional life – or in their personal or for that matter – is for them to experience serious burnout.

Burnout usually occurs when stress reaches a critical point, and physical and mental health suffer enough that workplace performance and personal well-being can collapse.

Having high energy levels naturally helps to shield you against burnout – at least to some degree – while simultaneously boosting your quality of life across the board.

And, when all is said and done, who doesn’t want to feel their best as much as possible, and as much of the time as possible.
